“Char-what?” That’s what my mom said when I told her I would make a charcuterie before dinner. It’s basically a meat and cheese board. It’s one of my favorite appetizers for a few reasons. One, who doesn’t love cheeses? Two, it’s so easy to add more if you need it for a large crowd. And three, its so easy to make it look pretty.
I made this simple cheese board for 4 people the other day. It was just two cheeses, grapes, chorizo salami, and some crackers. You can get so many delicious cheeses at your basic grocery store and even Aldi, Lidl, and Trader Joes have excellent options.
This was a gouda and it paired so well with the chorizo salami–a nice mild flavor to soften the spice of the meat.
This chevre, whoa this chevre. It was a honey and jalapeno goat cheese chevre. At first bite, it was sweet and smooth. A few seconds later, you were hit with heat; what a punch! Those grapes nearby were a juicy fruit to extinguish the slight fire on your tastebuds!
So the next time you’re in a pinch and need an easy app or are asked to bring something to a party, snag dibs on the charcuterie. It sounds fancy, but it’s really simple, easy and delicious!
