August is here and it’s the best season of all — football season! This week, I’ll be sharing lots of ideas so your football season is the most stylish one ever! From wardrobe to tailgating essentials, I’ve got it all figured out for you!
Let’s get started with the first weekend of football and two important details you should not forget. One–it could likely be the hottest day of the year; or at least feel like it. And two–it’s also Labor Day Weekend; so if you play by the old fashion rules about white, this is your last chance to show off your little white dress or all white outfit.
The chances of me wearing this dress are very high! I love that this dress is all white and midi-length. It’s on trend, allows me to bend over without mooning anyone and there’s no waistband. Super comfortable and breezy for the insane heat we’ll have that day. I may replace the white bow with an orange one, just for and an additional orange flair.
If you love the all white look, you can always wear white jeans and an all white tank. I love the crispness of all white and how orange pops against it. However….the chances of me wearing this outfit on gameday is pretty low. In all honesty, I’m not gonna sweat it out in white skinny pants for several hours tailgating then inside the stadium. This is perfect for a viewing party! If you’re not going to the game, but going to party, this is the route to go!
If all white isn’t your thing, or if you’re looking for looks for the second and third game because, let’s face it, it’s still gonna be scorching like molten lava.
I bought these shorts years ago and I wear them a lot in the summer. They look great with a white top and transition well with a chambray sleeveless top or a chambray button down.
How many times have y’all seen me in this outfit this summer?! I am so happy I purchased these shorts at the beginning of the season. They are so easy to dress up or wear with a tee.
Another option is to wear white jeans with a statement orange top.
One of my favorite things, and I got very good at this working at Clemson, was finding bold patterned outfits that had orange in them and using my orange accessories to add more spirit to the ensemble. The Lilly Pulitzer top below is so cool, loose, and comfortable.
These kind of tops are one of those, when you see it, get it. It’s hard to find a “multicolored top that has orange in it.” That’s so specific! However, Lilly did just come out with this one and I love it: Multicolored Halter !
As games progress and fall approaches, but it’s still in the 90 degree temps, a loose chambray dress is what you need! I’m so glad the chambray trend has stuck around.
Ok so this is also one of those, when you see it, get it. But I want to point out why it’s so comfortable and perfect for a football game. Some might say it’s a tad dressy, but who cares. This goes back to why I’ll likely wear the all white dress to the first game. This dress is loose, flowy, and long. You just can’t beat it!
And check out this statement orange and pink flowy dress!
Keeping with the “pop of orange” concept and moving in to fall, consider a navy dress. I know, navy is not a Clemson color, but it is a neutral. I’m not a fan of black and orange (although I will do it on occasion) and navy just looks better! This is another great way to transition into fall when it’s still pretty warm out.
This dress is the Belk Crown and Ivy dress and I’ve had it for a few years. Last year, they came out with version piped in orange and I bet they will come out with something similar so keep your eyes peeled!

And some may think I’m crazy, but I will likely wear this to the Breast Cancer Awareness game. And honestly, I feel my best self in it, too. Pink is just my color!

I wish I had bought this one, might have to now. I love it. //
Pricey, but if you love pink like I do, you’ll get your money out of it //
And when it’s finally cool enough to wear sleeves…
I’ve always loved having an orange skirt. And a skirt with pockets! To me, it feels preppy old school and I love it. I got this one last year and the buttons make it a little trendy. I’ve also worn it with a brown turtleneck and boots and with a black turtleneck and boots.
These outfit ideas should at least get you into October! I’ll be back with more wintertime football outfits when it cools off. That navy long sleeve shirt was all I could take in the heat right now, ha!
And keep checking back this week as I’ll have more football essentials!
