I have to give all the credit for this to my mom; it was her idea. We’ve always had our tree in a bay window that has a slightly shorter ceiling so the tree has been pretty small. By putting it up on a table, I got the 9 foot tree I’ve always wanted and it’s in a spot I can enjoy all season long!
Use a blanket as a tree skirt.
When I first needed a tree skirt, I couldn’t believe the cost of them! I remember looking at the pretty faux fur skirts for $50 at TJ Maxx. Two rows over was a faux throw for $20…..done! This blanket lays on the sofa in our basement and during December it lays under the tree. One less thing to store, too! I also think the faux fur small rugs would be great under a tree!
Get a pre-lit tree.
Our tree is pre-lit and can do white lights, colored lights, OR…..it can even flash lights and put on a show. HAHA! I always loved the classic appeal of an all white light tree, but as my love for color in all decor has grown, I’ve come around to colored lights. I’m glad my tree can adjust to what I want.
Add more lights to your pre lit tree.
Since the tree has prelit lights, I leave them on color but I added about 5 strands of white lights. I love them all!
Add big bulb lights!
You know the bigger bulb lights you use outside on your patio? Bring them in and put them on your tree! I love how they almost feel like another ornament, but glowing. I use the frosted bulbs for a softer effect. These are actually strand I used to have outside until I invested in heavy duty outdoor lights. I got them from WalMart! I believe mine came with the frosted bulb but they aren’t hard to find. You know me…it’s at Walmart!
