A friendly follower recently slid into my DMs with a request for how to style coffee tables. This is something I do for clients regularly and thought I could demonstrate on the coffee tables in my home.
Some of my favorite items and objects to decorate these surfaces include trays, coffee table books, ginger jars, kleenex boxes with covers, pretty coasters, candles in metallic vessels, etc.
…a rectangular coffee table
To style our living room coffee table, I kept all the colors similar to what I use throughout the room: turquoise, anchors of blue, pops of pink, and touches of chinoiserie elements.
I have to come clean ya’ll. I don’t keep this table looking this tidy all the time! I’m trying to get better at picking up the clutter when I leave the room but I have a tendency to leave my devotional book and bible sitting there, a cup on the coaster, remotes strewn about. That’s one reason I love a tray! If I don’t have time to completely tidy up the entire table, just toss those clutter items in the tray and it’s instantly neater. Hence why I chose a large tray to be the center of our coffee table!
To ground each side, I wanted to add some symmetry. I chose a few similar hued and sized coffee table books and topped them each with an object. The kleenex cover is Jayes Studio. I have terrible allergies so kleenexes within arms reach are necessary for every room in my home. The other side is topped with a vintage temple jar. The deep blue color with turquoise and orange further accentuates the color scheme.

…a round coffee table
Let’s move on to my office aka the champagne studio. I have a round coffee table in here and use similar items, but arrange them differently.
Because it’s round, I like to group the objects in the center rather than going creating a line down the center of the table.
I used two stacks of books to add height. One I topped with a pretty vase. This actually corrals receipts and tags for my business! Another pretty item used to keep me organized. The other stack has a small rose medallion dish and a candle. To finish the space with height, I added my champagne bucket and a bottle of bubbly as a nod to the space’s moniker.
