Did anyone do any fun out of town trips for the Labor Day Weekend? To be honest, I kind of forgot it was a long weekend. I seriously cannot keep up with the days and it certainly didn’t feel like a holiday weekend with no major plans. Hubby and I decided Sunday evening that we should get away for a change of scenery and to just “do something” on his day off. So on Monday morning, we loaded my car and dropped off a few things at the shop and then headed north to Hendersonville, NC.
It’s only about 45 minutes to get to downtown Hendersonville and an easy drive, too. We went with zero plans. The weather was so pleasant and cool that we knew we would just enjoy strolling a pretty downtown and enjoying lunch out somewhere.
We looked at a few menus of places and ultimately settled on Shine. It did not disappoint! We are definitely going to make a trip back just to eat here! I don’t have photos of our food because we ate it too fast! We ordered the stuffed mushroom and they were unlike any other stuffed mushrooms you’ve ever had before. Shitake mushrooms stuffed with goat cheese and spinach and a healthy drizzling of hollandaise sauce. I almost ordered a second round!
My hubby ordered the frog legs; he’s adventurous like that! Fried frog legs atop a bed of dirty rice and green beans. I ordered a goat cheese salad; I am not adventurous! It was delicious with the dried cherries and their house made sorghum dressing!
After lunch, we strolled downtown and popped into antique stores! There’s several all along Main Street and if you’re looking for gorgeous antiques, I definitely recommend making a trip! Here’s a few snap shots of my favorites.
It was a quick trip for us, but we’ll definitely be going back! Are there any places I should add to our next road trip?
