Bedside tables are a very important part of bedroom decor. The bed is the focal point, but the side table is where our eye goes next. The lamp and accessories are a crucial part to functionality, but I am very particular about the size and scale of bedside tables. Think about the 4 S’s when looking for a bedside table: scale, storage, style, and space.
We have a king bed and even then, our king bed is on risers. It’s about 33 inches tall. Anything too short looks like a dwarf next to such a grand bed and anything too narrow looks skimpy. I knew our bedroom needed something with girth; something like the classic three drawer chest! This was my solution to scale, storage, and space.
A few years ago, my mom gave me the bedside tables that were in my room growing up. They were also in her room as a child, too! I think these spoiled me. I always had big side tables growing up and I just couldn’t settle for anything less than optimum storage and space for a big lamp! As a child, they were all white. My mom even painted them all khaki for my brother to have in his dorm in college. When they returned to me, I painted them back white and made the traditional hardware navy blue. It looked great in our guest room.
But as I was planning our master bedroom update, I kept thinking about these classic white three drawer chests. They are the perfect height, perfect color, but needed a little something to make them a tad more modern.
Easy peasy. Change the hardware! I love the way this modern acrylic and gold hardware transformed this traditional chest to an updated bedside table. It’s so affordable and what an easy fix! This was my solution to style!
It even comes in multiple sizes! Be sure you measure well to get the right sizes. My chests looked like they all had the same size, but the top drawer was a half inch shorter!
Maybe you’re thinking you need some good chests as side tables now, right? The storage, the space, the scale, the style. Not to worry! I’ve got these available in my booth right now and they check off each box of the 4 S’s!
This pair of white three drawer chests would be fabulous in a master. Those modern handles are so chic and I love the curves of the drawers!
You can do so much with this pair of grey side tables! The modern touch adds a bit of masculinity, but the texture and brass make it oh so stylish!
Message me if you are interested in these beauties! They are in my booth at Cottage Grove Vintage Market. And let me know what you’re adding hardware to in your home!
