The Perfect Rattan Tote

This is an excellent handbag for me because I like to tote ALL THE THINGS around with me. I keep my purse organizer inside and also carry my daily calendar, self locking tape measure, and usually fabric swatches and more design materials. I appreciate the flat bottom of this tote and the large handles that are easy to put on my shoulders.

The Best Ribbon for Ribbon Handles

I went on a wild goose chase to find the perfect ribbon. Do y’all know how hard it is to find 3″ ribbon in person? Impossible. I couldn’t find it in a pretty spring color, ha! I was so eager to test this project, I used a 1.5″ ribbon but now that I know where I can find 3″ ribbon (Amazon to the rescue), I may switch it out. This takes a lot more ribbon than I thought. Be sure you purchase 2 9′ length ribbon spools!

The Easiest Tutorial Ever

This was so easy to complete, that I really can’t even list multiple steps!

Start by tying a knot at the base; be sure that you have the finished ribbon leading downward to cascade down your bag.

Wrap the ribbon tightly around the handle.

When you get to the end, keep it tight and be sure to tie the knot with the finished end leading downward. I finished the ends by trimming them in a triangle shape to keep them from fraying. I also dabbed a little hairspray on the ends to keep from fraying, too!
