I am so excited to share MAE Wearable Art with y’all today and more about her beautiful pieces of jewelry!
I met Margaret Gail at dinner the first night of The Southern Coterie in February. The first thing I noticed were her fabulous earrings. Being a little shy, I didn’t immediately blurt out “I love your earrings!” but played it cool and did the whole first introductions and small talk. I quickly learned she designed and created those fabulous earrings! I was instantly impressed with her talents.
Margaret Gail further impressed me with her woodworking talents and creative skills. She takes scrap pieces from her father’s contracting jobs and transforms them into gorgeous jewelry. This truly spoke to me! Being a vintage curator, I love hunting and finding pieces that one might think is past it’s prime but creating something beautiful with it. It further pulls at my heartstrings, too. Building with leftover wood is something I grew up doing with my grandfather. And during this time of quarantine, I feel as if the world is trying to find ways to be resourceful. I’m thankful we’re returning to my grandfather’s generation of using every bit of what you’re given. Margaret Gail is spearheading this in the statement jewelry category.
Beyond her resourcefulness, her talents in design speak for themselves. Examine the details in these pieces–polished and painted, a delicate sheen, a touch of understated sparkle. These are pieces that I wear on a regular basis because they complete the simple knit top and pretty earrings outfit, but can also be paired with a cocktail dress for a special event. These earrings are almost weightless–making them ideal for everyday. Seriously, a statement earring that’s weightless? Finally, my ear lobes aren’t stretched and hurting at the end of the day.
In our quarantined current world situation, I have loved wearing my MAE jewelry. It makes me feel good to get dressed, but I still want to be comfortable because I’m around the house. These do just that! I can wear my knit clothes, but wear these earrings and I feel. so. good. It’s like the jewelry version of soft clothes. 😉
I don’t typically wear stud earrings, but I am loving these crushed crystal studs. They still make a statement without being big and are the perfect compliment to the bold patterns I wear during the spring and summer. If I was someone that worked out, I would wear these for my workout. And yes, if I worked out, I would be someone that wears jewelry while I workout. I used to be 😉 I am not big on the tween scene, but I would imagine these would be a great gift for girls just getting their ears pierced. Adorable and trendy without being too much for someone of that age. Hint, hint Easter Bunny 😉
Each piece is unique and I love the versatility to each of them. The way these oversized studs combine a classy pearl with some turquoise color and crushed crystals is the chicest of updates. An animal print is a great neutral and I love the gold, with just a touch of glitter, and white earrings. It’s bright way to incorporate animal print into brighter, spring clothing choices. And those blue and gold! I love how they hang in a diamond shape with abstract blue, white, and gold art loosely painted but topped with a simple, horizontal crystal. These earrings add pizzazz to any outfit.
I think we all need some pizzazz right now. These earrings make a great gift from the Easter bunny. Why not have a pair shipped straight to your friend and let her know you can’t wait to see her after quarantine? Or know someone that got engaged recently? Gift them a pair and tell them you can’t wait to celebrate with them in the future. Have someone who has been encouraging and supportive during this time? Express your thanks by giving them a pair of earrings!
