It is on my bucket list to attend the Kentucky Derby one day. Until that dream becomes a reality, I’ll keep hosting parties and decorating a Kentucky Derby Bar Cart. I hope this little blue and white chinoiserie cart inspires you to do the same!

Mint Juleps
As a lover of silver and vintage, I adore a silver mint julep cup. I actually have two sets! One set was started by my grandmother and I received a couple as a gift each time there was as momentous occasion or event (like making my debut or graduation, etc). The other set is from my husband’s side of the family and that’s what I used on this cart.
This particular mint julep set is monogrammed and I love that the middle initial is for Louise. It’s a name that runs in both our families and I think it’s so special to have pieces with the monogram on there.

I also used a vintage, heavy decanter to finish the drink scene. Bourbon to come later! It just wouldn’t be a Kentucky Derby Bar Cart without these items!
Bourbon Balls
It’s not complete without a sweet! Mary, with In the Curious Kitchen, mailed me a set of specialty item–a delicious pack of Bourbon Balls! These arrived and it was so hard for me not to devour them immediately. I had to get them photographed. Once we did our Instagram live, they were eaten very quickly!
I elevated these on my gold cake stand so they could be the center of the bar cart. They are an easy grab and go dessert for party attendees.
Don’t Forget the Mint
It’s not a mint julep without mint! If you’re hosting a party, you’ll need more than this small plant but I thought adding my small mint plant from my herb garden in a blue and white planter gave a chinoiserie feel to the bar cart. Best of all, this planter is part of a set on Amazon!

Run for the Roses
The finishing touch to any Derby Day decor are some fresh red roses as a nod to the beautiful red roses that will be draped on the winning horse! I grabbed these from Trader Joes and finished it with a couple of white hydrangeas to make them pop!

To further complete my blue and white chinoiserie, I placed these in a Lucy Grymes paper vase. These things are genius! I made my simple floral arrangement in my stemless wine glass and wrapped the paper vase around it. It’s the easiest arrangement ever and a lovely modern chinoiserie nod.
