Let’s talk lamp shades! I recently shade a guide on selecting the right size and shape for your lamp and my favorite bulbs. Now, let’s talk about the most stylish shades for your lamp! Here’s a lamp shade round up!
Budget Friendly Shades
If you’re looking for a basic white shade for your lamp, I would suggest Target or Home Depot. You can even find some decent ones at Home Goods or At Home. Here’s a few.
Quality, Basic Shades
You may find that a proper size shade for your lamp is not in the budget friendly options. I have certainly found that because I love big lamps. They truly transform a vignette and the proper shade goes a long way! Here’s some shades that are the next level up.
These are excellent white drum shades!
These are excellent white slightly tapered drum shades!
If you’re looking for a slightly upgraded shade (notice the finished edges on this one) or in a color, these are a wonderful option! They also come in a slightly tapered drum, too!
Patterned and Pleated Shades
I’m loving the new patterned and pleated shades on the market these days! It can totally transform a lamp!
This is an excellent pleated shade with a slightly tapered edge.
I also like this pleated shade because of the wider box pleats. It feels traditional but a little more updated.
The micro pleats with this micro leopard is a great way to add subtle pattern to a space.
This is another great pattern that won’t compete with other patterns in your room!
I’m loving this blue and white and chinoiserie botanical type pattern! It’s so pretty!
Another leopard pattern but in a slightly larger scale, but on a drum shade. This allows the full pattern to be seen.
This is another great option to create impact in a modern, drum shade. Slightly animal print, slightly dotted. Completely stylish.
Metallic Lined Shades
Metallic lined shades are another great way to further bounce light. I particularly like them in a dining room on buffet lamps. They add a sense of formality.
These come in black or white. For my taste, I prefer white shades.
Unique Shaped Shades
In my blog about the shape of shades, I mention that I prefer for the shade to mimic the shape fo the lamp. For example, if it’s a rectangular base, then you need a rectangular shade.
This one comes in good neutrals and sizes!
Wow! It’s a square shade at a great price point!
You can also find square pagoda lamp shades to give a lamp a chinoiserie feel. However, I do feel this is best shopped for at your local lighting store!
When to Call on a Designer
There’s many options available to consumers to create beautiful lighting with proper shades. As a designer and through my research, I have also learned there are many other shades available to the trade. Ones in colors that may be more suitable to your room. Or more designs. It can be helpful to reach out to a designer to get proper input on what shade will be best and work with them to gain access to those shades. I’ve put many shades available to the trade on lamps in my booth! You’ll have one fabulous light at the end of it!
