I am so excited to help Kelsey Nichols launch a gorgeous new collection today! I fell in love with her art when I first discovered it at the Pawley’s Island store The Shoppes at Label Six. Kelsey’s art commands your attention with the vivid and bold colors while also captivating you within the subject. You’re going to love her collection of mountains and marshes.
The Best of Both
When Kelsey and I were chatting about the subject matter for this special collection, we discussed how fortunate we are to live in South Carolina where the beach or the mountains are a short road trip away. Both locales are so special to me; I grew up spending family vacations in each area.
Driving to the beach, I always get excited when I see the boats in Georgetown, knowing our destination is just a few minutes away. As you go over the causeway, you see the lush marsh and immediately feel a sense of calm. The setting sun provides the prettiest painted sky. Kelsey’s bold colors capture that feeling–the tranquil drive over a marsh with picturesque skies.
Growing up, the drive to the mountains was a little further and we would get impatient with how long it would take. As we reached the upstate and the blue ridge mountains came into view, my mom would always point them out so we would know it’s not much further. I’m so fortunate to live in a perfect spot where on the drive to my house, I can see the blue ridge mountains. I love how Kelsey has captured the anticipation of “almost there, I can see the mountains.” It also reminds me of the bible verse from Psalm 121–“I lift my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help.” A picture of mountains reminds me to keep looking to Lord.
The Details
The Mountains and Marshes Collection is a limited release. There are only 16 small original paintings, 8x10s and 11x14s, and one large 30×40. The smaller paintings all come with the gorgeous gold 3″ frame. The frame adds the perfect finishing touch of warmth to highlight the subject and colors; these start at $125 each for the 8x10s. The large 30×40 is unframed and $900.
Hanging Suggestions
I styled these on each side of the bed, a scene from each locale on each side. I particularly like the small framed 8×10 stacked on top of the larger framed 11×14. Stacking a pair of paintings by the same artist fills a wall nicely while also being unified in colors and framing.
I know it’s only March, but a painting from the Mountains and Marsh Collection would make wonderful gifts for upcoming spring occasions. These would be a beautiful gift to a bride! Give one of the smaller paintings as an individual gift or have a group of friends go in together and gift the large painting as the wedding present to the couple to decorate their first home. Consider giving a mountain or marsh as a Mother’s Day present or end of year teacher gift, too!
With this being a limited release, I have a feeling they will go quickly! Be sure you’re following Kelsey on Instagram for the latest!
