We lived with one good pair of scissors for way to long. We would use them in one room and then leave them in that spot, then be looking for them in another room. I used to think that it made me lazy to not to want to walk to the kitchen to get scissors, but then I realized having scissors in the places we most frequently use them is very efficient!
Box Cutters
So these aren’t scissors, but you most definitely need several of these handy box cutters. It’s my favorite gadget from Amazon because I use it on a daily basis…to open all my Amazon packages, ha!
I keep one box cutter in the kitchen junk drawer and one in my desk drawer. I’ve thought about purchasing another to leave right by the front door.
These make very practical gifts, too! I bought the six pack several years ago and included one on the gifts of family members. We’re opening boxes and deliveries everyday, it needs to be a simple process and not difficult. Because it’s easy, I break down the boxes immediately, too. My home stays cleaner because of this one box cutter tool.
Big and Small Scissors
After scissor-gate for so many years, I purchased a pack of scissors that included big and small scissors. The two big scissors stay in the kitchen. One small scissor is my desk drawer and the other small scissor is in our bedroom. Having a pair of scissors in the bedroom is so helpful when cutting tags on new clothes or a snagged thread on a seam.
Kitchen Scissors
I know I mentioned the scissors I keep in the kitchen, but I also have two pairs of these KitchenAid scissors that I keep in our utensil crock. I use them most when opening the pack of sealed bacon (or the salmon or pork tenderloin sealed packages) and then when I need the bacon in small pieces to fry and make bacon bits. It’s so much easier with scissors! I much prefer that we have a pair of scissors that touches food and nothing else. And, yes, I throw them in the dishwasher.
Fabric Scissors
Because I work with fabric regularly, I also have a pair of fabric shears. These only get used on fabric, nothing else. It makes quite a difference in cutting thick upholstery fabric.
Wrapping Paper Scissors
I don’t have special wrapping paper scissors, but every Christmas I tell myself “time to get good scissors for this.” I saw this gadget and I’m so intrigued! It looks like it would work well to cut on the roll or the wrapping sheets.
