In 2020, my beauty routine got extremely simplified. Wearing a mask led to not wearing foundation or powder or lipstick. I stuck with my tried and true favorites and discovered a few items that really assisted helped out with the 2020 woes….aka extending color for a long time with no trips to the beauty parlor!
Let’s go around the circle shall we? First, I’ve mentioned this a few times on instagram but I love this lip balm. I put it on every night and truly keeps my lips from getting chapped. I also feel that if I go a day wearing a mask for a very long time, my lips are drier. Something about breathing my own air under there, I guess. This lip balm heals it! I currently use the calendula flavor but I also love the peppermint. However, have you put a mint in your mouth and then immediately put on a mask. Whoa! It’s strong! I’m not sure I would advise the peppermint flavor right now.
There is no concealer like Shape Tape. Especially since I don’t wear foundation anymore, this gives coverage where I need it most — tired eyes! Here’s a tip I learned a long time ago–dab a little on your eyelid for it to serve as a primer for eyeshadow!
Who else saw some serious roots during 2020? For me, the bigger problem than roots is brassiness. Combine roots with brassiness and it’s just gross. Brass belongs on vintage decor, not your hair! This shampoo smells amazing and brings your highlights back to that just left the salon brightness. I even had an appointment recently where my hairdresser told me I needed to get highlights. I truly think it’s because I have been using this shampoo regularly. The brand also makes a coordinating conditioner, but my hair still looks great without using that.
I switched to this eyeliner years ago and my itchy eyes immediately stopped. I’ve always worn a purple eyeshadow to compliment brown eyes. This one lasts forever too!
The world could be falling apart but if my nails are done, I feel good. I discovered these press on nails at the beginning of 2020 and took a hiatus because I was washing hands constantly and didn’t think they would last as long. I put them back on for Christmas just because and they’re lasting 10 days, even though I’m constantly washing hands and doing projects!
Back to eyes…I have always loved a bright white shadow for the corners of my eyes and just below my brow. With my fair skin, it’s hard to get a white to show up actually brighter than my white skin. When Tarte had a sale early in 2020, I thought I would give this tartiest eyeshadow in prismatic pearl a try. It’s fantastic! Truly brightens, lasts a long time, and just the right amount of glimmer without being teenage metallic like.
And I’m saving the best find for last! A few of y’all have asked me on instagram and this is my new favorite mascara. I have been wearing L’oreal Voluminous since high school. The best for length and volume without being heavy, sticky, or too liquidy. On my last trip to Target, I saw this new Air Volume and thought I would try it. Two coats of this and your lashes are next level! I feel like it’s slightly more height, a little oomph and lift. I always get blackest black.
Here’s to 2021 and making it gorgeous! Smoochies!
