The Champagne Studio Reveal

What is a champagne studio? Let me tell you! As I was working to furnish and style my home office, I saw a post in one of those Facebook selling groups. A woman was downsizing and selling lots of fabulous furniture from her home; some of the items were from her champagne lounge. I couldn’t afford her $2000 items from this lounge, but I loved the fact that she had a room dedicated to champagne and lounging. A friend suggested I name my office the Champagne Studio. A studio suggests productivity and action being completed on work. Thus, my office received a clever name!

The chintz sofa started the entire process. Sadly, my great Aunt Martha passed away last summer. No one wanted her chintz sofa and my grandmillennial self jumped up and said “I’ll take it!” It truly represents the grandmillennial aesthetic at it’s core–a style of years gone by, but paired with designs of today to create a chic look. Furthermore, it’s using what we have. Aunt Martha was resourceful in soooo many ways and I hope it pleases her that her sofa brings me so much joy to use everyday.

A couch isn’t your typical office furniture, but I honestly love having a sofa in this room. Sometimes you’re tired of sitting at a desk and just wanna stretch out. Now, I can do that! To modernize the look of floral chintz, I added pink zebra pillows with an abstract soft lavender lumbar. A large abstract painted by yours truly echoes the variation of colors in the sofa. You see pink and green florals but I love how chintz carries the colors from deep emerald to to light green to blush pink to dark mauve. The abstract highlights these hues with gold brushstrokes.

The silver champagne bucket is a nod to the room’s name. I added books that I’ve enjoyed or look forward to reading. I love having a round coffee table and the fact that it’s bamboo is another one of my favorite elements. A simple grey and white geometric rug brings balance to the busy chintz–adding a soft pattern but not too bold.

Now, let’s get down to business. I do have to work in here! You may recognize my desk as the bar from my Mardi Gras bar. This piece has previously been housed in my dining room, but I realized that it served a better function for me in this room. It’s the perfect size for my laptop, a small plant and good lamp. If I have too much space, I’ll clutter it up.

The art above is so special to me! My dear friend Riki painted this floral and was inspired by my sofa. I had to have the painting! It’s the perfect compliment to the couch across the room and I love having it hang above my desk.

The desk area is complete with a pink Chippendale chair upholstered in a thick tweedy green.

For additional storage, I painted this rattan and caning shelving unit hot pink. The height of the piece brings balance to the windows in opposite corners of the room. It’s a great way for me to display a few favorite pieces…including the necessities to pour a champagne cocktail when the day is done…and house my printer and essentials in a blue and white planter.

Does your office serve dual purpose? I bet it does right now during our quarantine time! I hope my champagne studio encourages you to create a space representative of your personality and conducive to your most productive self! Cheers!
