I’ve shared a few lamp updates on the blog and on my instagram (here and here). As I was contemplating lamps for our guest room, I new the space needed a modern gourd lamp. However, whenever I looked for modern gourd lamp with a proper shade and the finishing gold touches, it was more than I wanted to spend on lamps in our guest bedroom. So I did a little research.
The Perfect Gourd Lamp
Trying to find an inexpensive pair of lamps is no easy feat but I knew what I was searching for and hoping that with my proper keywords, I would be able to find the right thing. And I found it!
This pair of lamps is usually under $130 on Amazon (the price can fluctuate with their coupons and pricing structure). When something comes to about $65 per lamp, shade included, I consider that a bargain! The proper lamp shade adds to the steal of a deal. I like how this is a tapered lamp shade. A straight drum shade would feel too modern. Knowing this lamp looks great without having to buy a new shade and put more work and money into it makes it a no-brainer.

Adding Rub n Buff
I’m sure you’re all familiar with this little miracle wax. All you do is rub it on the surface and you’ve got the perfect gold finish. I like the color antique gold.
Lucite Bases
For the finishing touch, I added a lucite base under the lamp. It adds a bit of height and another modern effect. I wanted a little modern to balance all the hand me downs and vintage in this space.

If you want to really jazz it up
If you want to take it to another level, I would add the blue and white micro leopard shades or the navy block print. Again, I don’t think it’s necessary because these lamps come with great shades, but if you want to take it to the next level, these shades would do that. I may do it eventually, I just needed to give my bank account a break for the moment, ha!
Apply this Formula to Any Lamp
The best part about this is that it’s totally doable on so many lamps! It’s two items that are attainable and easy to apply!
