If you’re a Lilly Pulitzer fan, you know the After Party Sale is in full force right now! I’m not sure how much I’ll be buying this year, but I did want to share why I love Lilly, why you should invest now, and how to shop the sale.
I love Lilly Pulitzer because of the bright colors. Their known for bold patterns and happy prints. I feel my best self in bright colors; I feel like my fair skin needs something bright to warm it up and Lilly does that. They also very commonly say “Life’s a party, dress like it.” I couldn’t agree more! Every day is a gift and a special occasion, so let’s dress like it! I am most confident in my Lilly clothes.
I love Lilly because of the versatility. I know the price can sometimes be draw dropping, but I get a lot of wear out of it. Because I feel my best self in it, I keep grabbing my Lilly items out of my closet to wear for multiple occasions. The dress above has become a staple in my closet. I can wear it with flats and be casual; wear my pink heels and get dressed up for dinner out or church. I can wear it in summer or spring and fall. It looks so cute with a denim jacket or dress it up with a navy jacket.
I love getting the swing dresses because it’s easier to guess my size if I’m shopping online. And hello, super comfortable! These are some that I’m currently eyeing in the sale.
Just as the casual swing dress can be worn multiple ways, this Elsa top can be worn so many ways, too. The Elsa Top is one of their best sellers and for good reason. Again, I can wear it with white jeans and sandals for a casual look or change to wedges and I’m date night ready. Pair it with a pencil skirt and it’s work appropriate. Pair it with nice slacks and it’s ready for a winter cocktail party. It looks good with dark jeans or light jeans. I also wear them with leggings in the winter because they cover my bum! Add a poncho sweater or a coat, and you’re done!

Lilly has also been my favorite dresses to wear to fancier events…like black tie weddings or formal events. If you need a new dress for such occasions, now is the time to get a great one on sale! Many of my dresses are over 5 years old and I keep wearing them because they are what I feel my best in. That’s hard to come by in formal dresses! Ok…now a few tips for shopping the sale.
- Things go quickly. So if you haven’t already, login and update your credit card info so when you see something, you can check out immediately. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put something in my cart and then go to check out and its gone. You’d hate lose that Elsa top you’ve been eyeing.
- go backwards. As in…if you’re looking at dresses, start looking at the last page, not page 1. Work your way backwards. More people are viewing the items in the earlier pages so go where the crowd isn’t looking.
- Think about what you really need. I know Lilly is a pricey article of clothing and I only buy it on sale. I’ve accumulated my Lilly by shopping these twice yearly sales and sales at boutiques; don’t ever pay full price! So do you need to invest in a full length formal dress? Or do you need something like an Elsa top that will transition through all seasons? In other words, prioritize!
- don’t forget about department stores or small boutiques–they participate in the sale too! And it’s great to support a small business!
I didn’t have time to take photos of myself in some of my other favorite pieces but this is also a great time to get a cool statement piece. I have this jumpsuit in a pattern from a few years ago and this has been a very fun piece to wear to engagement and rehearsal dinners.
I also have a long sleeve maxi dress and I can’t tell you how many functions in the cooler months I’ve worn that to. It’s been a great item! I’m loving the pink and navy on this one!
