This past weekend, a friend and I escaped the heat and headed to the Appalachian Mountains for cooler temps and beautiful scenery. And I don’t mean the mountains. While the mountains of Western North Carolina are breathtaking, I’m referring to the Cashiers Designer Showhouse.
This year, the Cashiers Designer Showhouse was a glamping event. Each designer was given an amazing tent by Diamond Brand tents to decorate. I loved seeing each individual’s personal style and take on mountain camping in the most stylish way possible!
A Girl’s Day Out
Being familiar with the Cashiers area, we decided to head into Highlands first. This gave us some time to eat lunch and go in a few cute shops. You can see my recaps on Highlands for the 4th and Christmas. I clearly love this area! We first ventured to Highlander Mountain House. I have not stayed at this adorable inn, but look at this cozy and inviting decor. I’m sure I’ll be back!
We asked the bartender make a us a mocktail and it was so fun to sit on the patio overlooking Main Street sipping a beverage in the lovely weather.

After a few sips, we decided we better find lunch. After recalling the amazing lunch hubs and I had at Christmas, we decided to try Four 65. I’m so glad we did! Y’all, I am so tempted to make a special trip just to eat here. We split the Caesar salad which has blistered tomatoes and charred kale on it. Delicious! And they had gluten free pita bread to serve with it! If you’re g-free, you know how this is such a delight!
We split a pizza and I am still blown away at how this cauliflower pizza tastes nothings like vegetables and everything like authentic neopolitan pizza. At this restaurant to your list! We devoured it and I have no photo evidence.
We also enjoyed a mocktail here. I think asking the bartender to surprise me with a mocktail is my new favorite thing!
Let’s Go Glamping
When you arrive on site at the Cashiers Historical Society, there’s plenty of parking and a small tent to take your ticket. Then you’re free to roam and explore the tents at leisure. They do have a few lectures and demonstrations that you can purchase an additional ticket to attend.

I just wanted to sit and enjoy another blueberry mocktail in this cozy tent by Spruce Interiors.

Alexander Interiors
How charming is all this ticking stripe and floral and beautiful blues?! It’s the perfect combination of mountain rustic with sweet cottage charm.
I adore those custom cornhole boards with the the bean sacks in coordinating fabric. I think I might have to copy this project ya’ll! Tori Alexander did a wonderful job in this tent!
Tribus
That’s a swing bed, ya’ll! How fun is that with the multi oushak rug! Tribus Interiors designed this tent.
DWH Interiors
Can we say dream office? Outside in a tent, antique desk, luxurious sofa. Yes, I think I can work here just fine! DWH Interiors designed the tent.
Platt
How dreamy is this set up?! Ya’ll, I could move in!
Platt designed the tent. I love how they used the patio and deck, too!
Art and More
There’s also several tents with jewelry, antique, clothing, and art vendors.
I particularly enjoyed the art by Cynthia Perryman and Jessie Mackay.
Shannon Whitworth is the Artist Resident this year. I love her “coastal spirit meets appalachian roots.” She and her husband were also pickin’ bluegrass music on the porch. It was a mini vacation in and of itself to peruse her beautiful art while listening to the music.
You’ve Got to Go!
The Cashiers Designer Showhouse runs through Labor Day! Get up there in those cooler temperatures and beautiful design!
