If you haven’t realized it by now, my specialty and favorite type of design is working with what the client has and how to update it for today’s lifestyles. You can read how I helped another client freshen up their dining room. Today, I want to share how new pillows and one upholstery update can transform a space!
Red Sofa and Yellow Club Chairs
Raise your hand if you purchased a red sofa 10+ years ago…. I know my mom did! And so did this client. The red sofa and the yellow club chairs had to stay. They are in great shape and I knew I could absolutely work within this color palette to update the space.
The rest of the home is very traditional with touches of chinoiserie so I chose a bright floral with bird fabric. It has an artistic touch to it that feels like a modern spin on chinoiserie florals. I love how these pop against the yellow club chairs.
We also wanted to bring blue into this space. The kitchen is a beautiful blue and white trellis wallpaper and we wanted it to flow from room to room. I chose none other than the do it all blue snow leopard fabric for big pillows to ground the sofa. You can read all about this gorgeous fabric and my obsession here.

Every family room has one and it deserves to be a luxurious, soft upholstered piece. For the oversized club chair, we recovered it in the blue velvet leopard upholstery fabric. The grandkids immediately tested it out and gave their approval!
I love how this brings in the blue from the kitchen and the chinoiserie fabric truly pops against it!

If you’re looking to bring in some super soft club chairs to your home, I have a pair of blue leopard club chairs that are swivel rockers! Knowing how much my clients love this fabric (I’ve done it for 3 of them), I knew that I just had to put it on my next pair of club chairs for the booth.
