Chinoiserie Design Board

A few weeks ago, a sweet follower on instagram reached out and asked for help with her living room. I gave her a few tips with what she currently has (using all her main big pieces of furniture like the sofa, chairs, dresser, etc) and suggested the following to complete the room.

This follower had some beautiful art and one piece had some red, blues, and pops of turquoise. That was the full inspiration for this board! I searched for ways to bring out all of those colors! The image above is clickable or you can shop by using the icons below. The pillows are from Wheaton Whaley Designs!

Let’s discuss my thoughts behind this design board; starting at the top and working our way down!

Every window deserves to be dressed appropriately. I recently bought these curtain rods and love them! These blue geometric curtains are amazing! They are lined and weighted and have various options to hang them (I suggest rings and hooks). Considering all of that, they’re quite the bargain. I’m thinking about them for my bedroom.

To anchor a console in front of the window, I suggested creating a vignette with a pair of lamps, ginger jars, and gold florentine tray. Would you believe these lamps are about $100 each? I love that they are finished with a gold bottom and coordinating finial. The ginger jars are a two pack and great way to get some more bang for your buck!

Use the other ginger jar with another light blue jar on either side of the fireplace mantle. This brings simple symmetry to the zone.

Above the sofa, I suggest a uniquely shaped mirror and some imari plates on either side. These imari plates are from Etsy and I actually have some available, too, if you’re interested! I found these faux bamboo side tables online, but I suggest adding new gold hardware to give them a custom look. Add a lamp with modern flair to give a good balance between old and new.

When I saw that beautiful painting of hers, I immediately thought of these chinoiserie pillows from Wheaton Whaley. It’s all her colors! I used a simple blue and white chevron to big a backdrop to that chinoiserie pillow and suggest adding a leopard to the side chairs. I love how this leopard is dark blue and light blue. You’ve probably seen me share it on a few items in my booth and my sister in law is actually using it in their home too!

Ground the space with a rug with similar colors and garden stools are my favorite way to add a pop of color and perfect height as a side table by the chairs and fireplace without being too bulky.

Don’t hesitate to message me if I can help you complete a room! I love hunting and sourcing fabulous items for you all! Happy decorating!
