Keeping Hair Healthy

I read once that your hair is the crown you never take off. It’s so true! I put my hair through a lot (everyday blow drying, curling, highlights), and keeping hair healthy has become a priority. When I take care of it, I have good hair days. And we all know how important those are! Below are a few things I’ve been doing to keep my hair healthy.

Keeping Hair Healthy!

Olaplex No 3

I heard about Olaplex on Instagram and I asked my hairdresser about it; she fully endorses it! She uses it in my color treatments and after. I asked her what I could do at home to keep it healthy and she suggest the Number 3. It’s bond maintenance and keeps hair strong. I use this about 3 weeks on my entire head of hair.

I’ve share on instagram before how fried the section of hair at my part by my forehead and can get. I know it’s because I blow dry that section hard core everyday to smooth it out. If I don’t take care of it, that little tuft of hair sticks straight out! If I notice that section becoming try, sometimes I will do the Olaplex just right there; a little extra care for the area that needs it.

Protecting from Humidity

When I noticed that little section of my hair getting so dry and how I had to really work it every day, I thought about what could I do to prevent that. My hair was getting very curly and frizzy in the shower on the days between washes. So how could I prevent this frizz from being so extreme?

I used to use a shower cap to protect my hair in the shower but when I washed my face, my hairline would still get wet. I bought these terry velcro headbands from Amazon. I wear it just past my hairline to really keep moisture out from this fragile area of my hair.

Then I’ll pull it up with a scrunchy or hair claw.

Shampoos

One of the things that is sooo good for my blonde hair is the purple shampoo. Sometimes I don’t realize how brassy my hair is and then I use this and am amazed out how well it makes my highlights last!

My hair is naturally a dark brown, but a mousey ashey brown. I get my hair highlighted to blend and hide the grey. So when those highlights turn yellow, it is not cute! Thank goodness for the purple shampoo to get that out!

I have not been consistent with a shampoo and conditioner regimen this year and I want to get back to it. I may try the Olaplex Shampoo and Conditioner since I’m so impressed with the Bond Maintenance!

Protectant

Before I blow dry my wet hair, I use this Blowout Butter. I love how it protects hair from heat, but also smooths it so well without being weighed down. It also lasts a very long time! It only takes a teeny bit!
