Labor Day Picnic Under the Oaks

Ahhh Labor Day…one last holiday to commemorate the end of summer. School has started, football has kicked off, and its the opportunity for a relaxing gathering. So why not set up a picnic?

This was such a fun gathering to create! And so easy!

Grab a basket, a table cloth, plates, napkins, and find a shady spot for a leisurely afternoon meal.

My grandmother had the vintage picnic basket and it was perfect for corralling all our items. I love the texture wicker adds. You know I love a square, right angled container. These baskets are great for storing so many items. I love how the handle keeps this one closed. I think these would be so good for keeping items corralled in your car–perfect for travel.

How cute is our place setting? I have to give all the credit to my mom. She found these glavanized round trays at Dollar General along with the red plates. The trays kept everything in place for an outdoor setting and sometimes you need a solid plate to ground the setting. Dollar General and cheaper stores are perfect for that!

How perfect is the blue and white Juliska plate? Their Country Estate pattern is such a good spin on blue and white. I love the scalloped edges of this salad plate and the scene of an older home in the country.

Once again, chambray proves it versatility! These napkins were the perfect soft blue to go with the plates and gingham tablecloth.

Take it one extra step and let your food reflect the theme as well. Cherries are delicious! You could always do a simple medley of strawberries and blueberries. The small Beatriz Ball bowl is the ideal size for the little snack and also versatile for corralling items on a cheese board or charcuterie tray.

The blue and white planter with fern from home helps keep the tablecloth on the ground. Be sure to use your picnic basket on the other side to provide weight on both ends.

Happy Labor Day, y’all! Enjoy the day with those you love most and celebrate all that summer has given you! You can shop the items below!
