Master Bedroom Refresh

Share or Save!

I’ve finally made some headway and plans and sharing our master bedroom refresh! Can’t believe all of this was spurred by needing to replace the vent fan in our bathroom, but I’m glad it did! Our bedroom has always gotten the leftovers. Or I would add something to make the leftovers work. This time, I am decorating it from top to bottom and it will be complete for the long haul!

The beautiful floral pattern are drapes. I fell in love with the fabric and new it would be stunning on windows! They are made and ready to go! I’ve based all the other decisions off of this!

Sources

The drapery fabric is by Robert Allen. I found it at a closeout place so I can’t link it for you. It is very similar pattern to Hydrangea Bird by Kravet.

I will be using a faux grasscloth wallpaper on the walls. It is York and very affordable when compared to other grasscloths. I also like the idea of a smooth paper for my allergies; I did not want to be vacuuming my walls or worried about dust on traditional grasscloth.

I will be adding bamboo blackout blinds to the windows. I am still researching where I will get them for an affordable price. I may add a blackout roller shade behind traditional bamboo blinds. I have these in my office and I love the texture they add.

I’d love to add a very large abstract over the bed. This is print is available online, but I may search locally for one. I would prefer to support a local artist, and I want to see the room wallpapered before making any final decisions.

The gold light is a semi-flush light and excellent price for the size! I have it ready to go but I’ve got to get the ceilings repaired first; can’t wait!

There’s beautiful coral and bright red tones in the floral fabric. I would love to use lamps with those colors to truly pop against the blue walls.

I have an interesting space for my bedside table. It’s really in front of the french door that we don’t use. I would like to use something open to let the light in and still have the drapes visible. It’s also right beside the door to the bathroom so it can’t be anything too big. This simple gold console would allow me to stack my reading on the shelf and have a cute little ottoman or stool slide underneath. I also like the touch of modern to balance the 4 poster bed and other very traditional elements in the room. I will keep hunting for a beautiful wood chest for my husband’s side table.

In the bathroom, I am hoping to paper the walls in this Thibaut wallpaper. It’s such a small room but this will open it up and feel like a garden! The ceiling will likely be painted a solid green to coordinate.

We are replacing the vanity light because the current light is rusted (because of the no vent fan situation). I went with this polished nickel to match the other fixtures in our bathroom. While I love mixing metals, it was not something I wanted to do in such a small space. I do need to add some hooks to the bathroom; perhaps I can bring in gold there.

I also want to replace the mirror. A white bamboo frame will give the classic look I want and I have a vintage one ready in the garage!

I also plan to hang the Urban Garden bird prints in the room. They used to be in the dining room and I think they will look amazing against the blue grasscloth paper in here!
