Pink Houndstooth Coat

When I saw that Target was releasing some of their best twenty years of collaborations, I was most excited about the Lilly Pulitzer items and hoping I could score something that I missed the first time around. I completely forgot about the amazing Isaac Mizrahi items! As I perused online, I saw this coat and knew that it was something I needed!

Here’s a few reasons why I wanted this coat:

  1. I love a statement making coat. It can make an outfit.
  2. It’s pink. duh. And houndstooth. My best color in a classic pattern. Will likely be in my closet forever.
  3. It’s my color, which means I have a lot of items it can go with. As seen below and how I styled it.
  4. It’s a lightweight material so it’s perfect for our type of mild winters. Just enough of a layer to block the wind and cold, but not feel suffocated.
  5. It’s a swing coat. I love the the simple single pleat in the black giving it a shape that works on every body style.

I’ve had this pink shirt for a few years and I knew it would match perfectly with the coat! It’s from J.Crew Factory a few years ago. They don’t seem to have anything similar right now, but the tissue turtleneck in pink looks like a pretty darn close color match. These are my new favorite winter pants. Y’all heard me rave about them on stories the other day! The Spanx Jean-ish pants=amazing. The camel booties are from last year and they are Dr. Schools. I love that they are a wedge and so comfortable. I also love the low profile of the front; I like when my booties show a little bit of the ankle and top of the foot. The leopard belt is from Target last year and I think the current one is the exact same! You can shop all those items below!

This will be an excellent casual outfit when it finally cools off. Y’all know pink and orange are my fave combo, so I thought I would add a touch of orange in the belt. It’s a nice pop in the middle of the neutral base layers of a chambray shirt and white jeans. My chambray shirt is from Old Navy a few years ago and these white jeans are actually WalMart! It’s hard to tell but my shoes are pink suede with orange patent leather bows. And ya’ll have heard me talk about these earrings before, too. They are old Stella and Dot, but some dupes are on Amazon. All these items are below, too!

If this look is too matchy matchy for you with all the pink and orange combos, you can easily do a camel belt and camel shoes to make the accessories neutral and really allow the coat to be the statement.

And this look is what I call “I don’t have time to think an about an outfit, but I’m grabbing this coat to make it look finished.” I wore my Spanx pants, black sneakers, and a camel sweater.

I definitely wanted to pair the coat with a dress and my camel striped sweater dress is the perfect match! It was super hot the day I photographed this, so I just wore my booties, but I think some tall boots would look great! My dress is an old one from Vineyard Vines.

This is my favorite look of all! I paired the coat with a navy ruffle skirt, a bright orange turtleneck, and some pink/orange suede heels. All my fave colors. I understand this might be a little bold for some people, but you can easily switch out the turtleneck for a camel one and neutral shoes.

I hope this inspires some bright fall looks. I love how camel is such a good, warm neutral for fall, but the pink adds a fun punch and brightens everything!
