Raise your hand if you are always looking for a pair of white jeans to be your favorite. {ME} I don’t know what it is, but I have a favorite pair of regular blue jeans, but there’s something about white jeans that’s just so hard to find the perfect fit, flattering silhouette, not see through, etc, etc.
I’ve seen several bloggers post about American Eagle jeans, so I went to their site to do some research. Initially, I felt so silly pulling up the website that I used to shop at fifteen years ago. However, when I pulled up all their denim options, I was blown away by all the styles and all the fits. Hence why I ordered 5 style options in 2 sizes each. I wanted to try them all and find the best for my body type.
I decided to try these all on with on of my favorite Lilly Pulitzer Elsa top because it can be dressed up or dressed down, tucked in or tucked out. It’s a good way to get an overall outfit look when testing jeans.
High Waisted Skinny Jeans
There are several things I like about these jeans. First, they’re high waisted. I seriously hope this style hangs around a while because I can’t believe how uncomfortable a low waist is now. Second, these are very soft and I would equate the stretch, they call it Next Level Stretch, to that of a jegging. Similar to a jegging, the front pockets are faux. Thirdly, despite that amount of stretch and feeling like jegging material, they are not super skinny/tight around the calf and thigh. For a white jean, I don’t like a super skinny; I don’t feel like it’s flattering on me; when a jean is tight from top to ankle in white, I feel so exposed, like it’s too much in some way. Hard to describe but maybe you feel me?! So I really appreciated that these did not look like they were painted on my legs. Another important thing to consider is pocket placement on the back. When jeans are high rise, you want to be sure the pockets aren’t so high up your back in the rear end. These were good and I think the pocket placement on all the jeans were excellent!
Let’s talk curvy vs. non curvy. I was pleased with the non-curvy, but after slipping on the curvy, I was extremely pleased. I am so glad I have discovered curvy fit! I’ve always had a pear shaped body and the thickest part of me has been my thighs, but I’m not sure why I never tried a curvy fit. A curvy fit gives a little more room in the thighs so that the jean actually fits in the right areas. Ever have the constant battle of pulling up your pants? Try a curvy fit and see if it helps. I have also found that I go down a size. Doing this, it hugs my waist and fits so that I don’t have a gap in the back and it actually fits my thighs. So glad I finally have jeans that I don’t have to tug and pull all day long. I also prefer the curvy fit in Loft jeans, too.
Highest Rise Flare Jeans
I had high hopes for these (no pun intended, ha!). I think a white flare is a great way to add a heel and give a dressier touch to a casual outfit. As you can see from the photo, I have no length for heels. However, American Eagle does make tall sizes, so perhaps I should try that. Regardless of length, after trying on the curvy skinny and having that for comparison, these do not fit me well in the waist, hip and thigh area. If these came in a curvy fit, I would definitely keep them.
Mom Jeans
From the photo, you may not be able to tell much difference between these and the skinny jeans. These have a slight crop, but not too much. They are a perfect length for summer and for wearing with flats and sneakers. I may even try a little cuff with them for sneakers. In terms of stretch, these did not have as much stretch as the skinny jeans, but still a little. And these had even more room in the calf and ankle area. These also had real front pockets whereas the skinny jeans did not. The more I wore these, the more I liked them. Also, my rear end looked the best in these, ha! That’s enough to convince me!
Pleated Mom Jeans
This was a total accidental purchase! I had no idea that I ordered PLEATED jeans! How 1980s?! I tried them on for a good laugh. Someone who is trendy and more hipster than I could totally rock them!
White jeans are a closet staple for me and I think I found two that I love in this American Eagle haul. I’ve worn white jeans all winter and I know I’ll wear them almost everyday in the spring, so I’m really happy I tested these out. I hope it helps you too!
