What We Did

Chris and I stayed here for a week and my family was here for the long weekend. Here’s what we did day by day:

  • Friday. Everyone arrived at various times in the late afternoon and evening. A few of us cooked a simple meal when we arrived for supper and some folks ate on their way in.

  • Saturday. The family went into Highlands (about a 35 minute drive) for lunch. We are very familiar with this area and very much enjoy walking the adorable downtown and visiting shops. Read my other blog posts on Highlands. We ate at my favorite pizza restaurant of all time — Four 65. Everyone was very satisfied! I dream about this pizza and crave it. We also drove to Bridal Veil Falls. Chris and I were in charge of dinner and we made shrimp tacos!

  • Sunday. We rented a pontoon from Signal Marina and had a picnic lunch on Lake Glenville. I grew up visiting this lake; it’s gorgeous! There are several waterfalls and spots to anchor to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. My brother and sister in law were in charge of supper and they made a homemade pasta meal for us!

  • Monday. Our family left and Chris and I had a leisurely day the house. We did a load of clothes (what a luxury to take care of that stuff on vacay! it’s so nice!) and actually had a serious budget conversation. It takes getting away from all the everyday distractions to sit down and communicate and get on the same page. I wouldn’t say it was fun (ha!) but it was necessary and productive.
  • Tuesday. Chris and I went into Brevard (about 35 minute drive) and explored a little. I’m so familiar with Cashiers and Highlands, so it was fun to explore the other side of Highway 64. We ate at the Square Root and I highly recommend–delicious!
  • Wednesday. Chris and I ventured back over to Highlands; we wanted to eat at Four 65 again but they are closed for lunch on Wednesday! So we ate at Cashiers Smokehouse on the way home.
  • Thursday. Chris had to work this day so he set up his laptop in the office downstairs while I also did some work and got our items together and packed for the trip home.
  • Friday. check out day. Just leave sheets and towels on the floor and head out!

Photos of the Home

As mentioned, I had the wonderful opportunity to help decorate this home last summer and fall. I loved decorating it and it was so much fun to stay in a place I put so much work into! Here are just a few photos of the spaces so you can get an idea of how it would be to stay in this vacation home. I highly recommend this Sapphire vacation rental!
