Bright and Colorful Entry Way

Today, I wanted to truly welcome you into my home by showing you my simple, yet colorful and bold entryway.

Toss your purse on the pink chair; let’s catch up!

It’s a pretty small area. From our front door, you walk into this area with the living room to the left and the dining room straight ahead. A simple chest of drawers anchors the space. It’s an old piece from family that I updated with hardware from Hobby Lobby.

A hot pink chair is place for guests to lay their purses or we often sit down and take our shoes on and off when we use this doorway. My grandmother gave me the chair and I painted it hot pink and covered the seat in a greeny tweed for texture.

The art is a print from Erin Gregory. I love her use of color and the scale of the large pieces. You can get more of her prints from One Kings Lane and read more about her on her website.

The brass lamp is a vintage find that I updated with a modern, gold studded shade. Don’t forget to use height to play up your ceilings. I have basic 8′ ceilings, but I do feel that using taller objects make the room feel bigger. A pair of brass candlesticks updated with striped candles brings height and a little bit of symmetry to the vignette. Pepper in some colorful frames and it’s complete!

Because this entry way is small and there are many right angles, I felt that it was important to use a circular rug in the center of the room. Round objects tend to soften a space and this did just that. I found my exact rug on Houzz. For under $100, it really finishes the space and brings out all my favorite colors of pink and turquoise.

I’ve researched other reasonably priced rugs and have them all linked above. Did you see that cool octagon shaped one?! There’s even a few 3′ round rugs. What a great size for powder room!

The small round pagoda lantern was original to the house. It was actually black and had black glass all the way around it. We would turn the light on and you couldn’t even tell! I loved the shape of it so I broke all the glass and painted it gold. I’d love to have a wider semi-flush mount up there but because of the 8′ ceilings, it’s been a challenge to find one in the size I want that’s also in budget.

There’s some on there that are reasonably priced as well! Peruse the dreams of luxe semi-flush mounts with me!

Thanks for enjoying this little entry way tour with me! What space of my home do you want to see next?
