Several years ago, my bible study took a fun girls trip to a friend’s hunting farm. We all woke up the next day saying we slept so well and asked about the beds. Two Piece Mattress
Engineered Sleep has designed a mattress with two pieces–the ES Duo. Rather than one mattress that has coils and foam all in one piece, they’ve separated it into two pieces.
The first piece is the Support Base; it’s designed with over 1000 pocketed coils. It can also be flipped to a slightly firmer side. My favorite feature of the support base is the lumbar support zone. I immediately felt relief and support in my lower back when I lied down. Seriously, the first words out my mouth were “this feels likes a resort.” It was heavenly!

The second piece is the Comfort Topper, and there’s three options to choose from: firm, medium, and plush. These toppers zip into place onto the Support Base. This layer is made with latex. This is where I learned so much! Latex is a more natural material, a type of rubber; this gives more consistency across the mattress. I would describe it as feeling fully supported from head to toe. Latex is also a breathable material and Engineered Sleep places airways through this layer (see it in the photo above). Latex is not temperature sensitive; so that means if you’re hot, your mattress won’t get hot; aka you get a cooler night’s sleep.
When you’ve got two firmness options with the base and three levels of plushness for the topper, you’re truly able to get your desired level of comfort and support! We tried each option available and settled on the firm side with the plush topper. It’s what I’ve been trying to achieve with my old mattresses for years! I’ve been wanting support with some cushiness and now I’m getting it! The ES Duo will satisfy your comfort desires.
Durability
With the Comfort Topper being zipped on and off, this gives longer durability to your mattress. If you feel like it’s time for a new mattress after five or so years, you can replace the Comfort Topper and keep the Support Base. How genius is that?!
