Master Bedroom Bedside Tables

Let’s dive into our bedside tables. I’ve received a few questions about my gold and glass console table and why do we have different bedside tables. Here’s all the details on our bedside tables.

My Bedside Table

I’ve had a variety of bedside tables over the years and it’s been a challenge to find the perfect size because of the logistics of this space. We have a french door right beside the bed and I’ve treated it as window to bring balance to the space. We never use this door. On the next wall is the door to our bathroom. Because of that, a typical chest has felt too bulky. It would block the window and feel crowded and was usually too deep and got in our walkway to the bathroom.

When I began redesigning this space, I knew something open and narrow was a solution. Open to allow light in and for the drapes to be seen and night smooshed behind a dresser. Narrow to allow more walkway to the bathroom. This gold and glass console table was the solution. At under $100, its an affordable solution!

I keep all of my clothes in my closet, so storage isn’t an issue for me. I’m still figuring out the perfect accessories to style this area, but I enjoy having a tray to keep my vitamins, lotions, and little hairclips nearby.

Hubby’s Bedside Table

For my husband’s bedside table, I knew we needed a chest. He keeps some clothes and more items by his bedside. I had been hunting at thrift stores, consignment shops, and estate sales for a bachelors chest. A bachelors chest is usually over 30″ tall and I knew that would look best next to our taller bed. I found this handsome Henkel Harris locally and it’s the perfect size. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I reminded myself that this was the forever bedside table. I’m decorating this room to last us a very long time. I’m so glad I bought it because it’s the best height and width to fit this space–not too wide to be crammed from bed to wall, a little breathing room.

Still working on accessories over here, too. I’m thinking this valet will help corral his watch, rings, wallet, etc. We added a coaster that we had, but I’d like to find a nicer one.

Little Luxuries

One item we love on the beside is the charging dock. We actually use my old cell phone as our remote control; there are apps you can download. We also use this phone as our sound machine; more apps! So the phone rests on the charging dock and plays the sound all night.

I also highly recommend these cord keepers, particularly for open console tables like my bedside. It allows you to guide the lamp cord along the frame so it’s not dangling and unsightly.

Lighting

Another crucial element to my bedside table was finding a lamp that wasn’t bulky. Because I needed a narrow console table, I also needed a narrow lamp. A typical round lamp adds diameter and too much girth. It made the shade wider than the table and stuck out. The answer is a rectangular lamp with rectangular shade. This keeps the lamp and shade narrow like the table and doesn’t get in the way.

Modern bedside table with floral drapes,

I purchased our lamps through a trade resource I have. If you’re searching for similar rectangular lamps, here’s a few sources.
